On Sunday 28th everyone will be tuned to follow the movie world's biggest night.
All of the Oscar nominees for 2016 have been revealed a few months ago.
You can see the full list here but, let’s face it, there are some categories that we’re all a little more excited to see who is going to win, the ones that everyone talks about...
And even though we haven’t all seen every movie, here is what some of our Boom Models think (or at least hope!).

BEST PICTURE for JACOBO
The Big Short Bridge of Spies Brooklyn Mad Max: Fury Road The Martian The Revenant Room Spotlight I think that the frontrunner for "Best Picture" is "The Revenant". It's the favourite and it has already won most of the previous awards. Also "Spotlight" and "The Big Short" can probably be the Academy's choice, since they perfectly follow the current "Hollywood style" and they both satisfy the American pride. In my opinion the winner should be "Brooklyn", it's the only movie among the nominees that shows human feelings. It's a really moving story of love and migration we all can empathize with. For me, lately most of the stories take place outside the real world, in the space, on Mars... to many science fiction movies, incredible stories full of adrenaline but empty from the point of view of real human feelings. |
BEST DIRECTOR for NICOLAS
Adam McKay - The Big Short George Miller - Mad Max: Fury Road Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu - The Revenant Lenny Abrahamson - Room Tom McCarthy - Spotlight For this category, nobody should be the winner. Nothing new, just the same old points of view. Now it's all about the actors, they definitely do most of the job. Moreover, what's really sad is that now the Visual Effects Directors play the role of the director. Regardless this, if I had to pick up someone among the nominees the winner would be Tom McCarthy for Spotlight, but for sure Iñárritu is going to get the award once again for The Revenant. |
ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE for FILIP
Bryan Cranston, Trumbo Matt Damon, The Martian Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs Eddie Redmayne, The Danish Girl My choice is definitely Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl. I didn't really know this actor before but his acting in this movie is brilliant. I love the way how he performs two characters in one and how he switches the personalities. Most of the movie is about his complex inner identity, and he really did a very good job. His face expression was amazing. To be honest I'm not really into this kind of movies but Eddy's performance made it worth watching. I didn't get bored at all! |
VISUAL EFFECTS for TOM HOLLAND
Ex Machina Mad Max: Fury Road The Martian The Revenant Star Wars: The Force Awakens For me the best movie in terms of visual effects is Mad Max: Fury Road. I mean, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is amazing but you can't compare any of these movies with Mad Max in my opinion! I feel like a "Mad Max groupie" but, yes, it is my favorite movie since a long time :D Everything looks so perfect in this movie, they really did good work there. I've seen some before and after pictures of the landscape with the cars and the guys for the visual effects did an amazing job! I would say only Star Wars would have a chance to be first but they changed the way they make their effects, so I didn't like it. |
BEST MUSIC (ORIGINAL SCORE) for DAVIDE
Bridge of Spies - Thomas Newman Carol - Carter Burwell The Hateful Eight - Ennio Morricone Sicario - Jóhann Jóhannsson Star Wars: The Force Awakens - John Williams My pick for Best Music category is Thomas Newman for Bridge of Spies. Thomas Newman's musical scores are some of the most well-known in movie history. But, shockingly, he's never won an Oscar despite many prior nominations. Thomas Newman is amazing. He has his unique sound developed, he found a niche that nobody else can get into, a sound which appears light but says so much… I think Thomas Newman really deserve the award this time more than ever before! |
